The Ukraine-Russia-USA Conflict, Part 2: Bioweapon Labs and the 2014 US-Backed Coup in Ukraine

Part 2 of this article series about the Ukraine-Russia-USA conflict continues the long overdue unmasking and disillusionment of the USA and the West and the destruction of its self-serving propaganda via contradictory evidence and facts. In this installment, I examine evidence for the hypothesis of US-funded bioweapon labs in Ukraine (section 3) and the fact of the 2014 US-backed coup in Ukraine (section 4) [sections 1 and 2 are in part 1].

3. US-Funded Bioweapon Labs in Ukraine?

There already was earlier reporting about alleged US-funded bioweapons labs in Ukraine from pro-Russian accounts, such as from this journalist on Feb. 26:

https://twitter.com/dgaytandzhieva/status/1497556518278991873

As shown by the following Washington Post article, the US-Ukraine ‘countering’ bioweapons connection can be traced back to 2005, the (not Obama but) neoconservative George Bush jr. presidency (2000–2008), a certain ‘Democratic’ Senator by the name of Barack Obama (=bipartisanship of the bad sort), and the Ukrainian Orange Revolution which brought to power the pro-Western politicians Viktor Yushchenko (president from 2005–2010) and Yulia Tymoshenko (prime minister in 2005 and from 2007–2010):

https://twitter.com/traceyfutures/status/1501329997058822152

To add another interesting detail: The allegedly ‘defensive’ and ‘countering’ bioweapons cooperation partially happened in labs that had already developed biological weapons during Soviet times:

The United States and Ukraine agreed yesterday to work jointly to prevent the spread of biological weapons, signing a pact that clears the way for Ukraine’s government to receive U.S. aid to improve security at facilities where dangerous microbes are kept.

The agreement, the result of more than a year of negotiations, was announced by Sens. Richard G. Lugar (R-Ind.) and Barack Obama (D-Ill.) during a visit to the Ukrainian capital, Kiev. The senators credited Ukraine’s reformist leaders, ushered into power by last fall’s Orange Revolution, with breaking bureaucratic resistance to the pact.

One lab to receive funding is the I.I. Mechnikov Antiplague Scientific and Research Institute, in the Black Sea port city of Odessa. The institute was part of a Cold War network of “antiplague” stations that supplied highly lethal pathogens to Soviet bioweapons factories.

A new problem for dimissing the “US-funded bioweapon labs in Ukraine”-hypothesis as Russian propaganda is that the US neocon swamp creature, board member of the CIA cutout National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria “Fuck the EU” Nuland indirectly confirmed that hypothesis and supposedly crazy conspiracy theory with her evasive talk about ‘biological research facilities’ and ‘research materials.’ High-profile journalists such as Glenn Greenwald elaborate and analyze the evidence:

https://twitter.com/TheGrayzoneNews/status/1501427982405185537; https://thegrayzone.com/2022/03/09/victoria-nuland-us-biological-research-facilities-ukraine/
https://twitter.com/ggreenwald/status/1501313109520175104

From that telling exchange with Senator Marco Rubio:

Rubio: “Does Ukraine have chemical or biological weapons?”

Nuland [note how she evades the question and how she does not say “no”]: “Uh, Ukraine has, uh, biological research facilities which, in fact, we are now quite concerned that Russian troops, Russian forces may be seeking to, uh, gain control of. So we are working with the Ukrainians on how they can prevent any of those research materials from falling into the hands of, uh, Russian forces, should they approach.

The reliable anti-war voice Tulsi Gabbard also remarked and found it astonishing that “First of all, she didn’t say ‘no’”:

https://twitter.com/dgaytandzhieva/status/1501908536590229508; https://twitter.com/backtolife_2022/status/1501812336323084290

I agree with Glenn Greenwald that the above is an unintentional and partial “confession” by Nuland and that what follows is a “cleanup” by Rubio:

https://twitter.com/ggreenwald/status/1501313747754881031

Rubio: “[…] If there’s a biological or chemical weapon incident or, uh, or attack inside Ukraine, is there any doubt in your mind that 100% it would be the Russians that would be behind it?”

Nuland: “There is no doubt in my mind, Senator, and it is classic Russian, uh, technique to blame on the other guy what they are planning to do themselves.”

Note how methodologically insane and propagandistic it is to pre-establish guilt before any evidence is in and independently of what the evidence might show — something that also happened when it came to pinning chemical attacks that may very well have been committed by Islamist radicals on Syria’s Bashar Al-Assad. What this attitude displays is total disregard of any evidence that does not fit into a pre-established propaganda narrative, and this in turn further confirms the theory or hypothesis of US-funded bioweapon labs in Ukraine (‘don’t look at the evidence, it would show that we are guilty’).

Some further reactions:

https://twitter.com/dancohen3000/status/1501577901912821765

Reports of “collecting DNA samples” of “ethnic Russians” complement the picture and provide a further explanation for why Russia, which contrary to the USA does work with evidence, saw itself forced to militarily intervene in Ukraine:

https://twitter.com/dgaytandzhieva/status/1500523395292798982
https://twitter.com/ASBMilitary/status/1500499205663645700
https://twitter.com/Generalissimo_A/status/1501331269556260867; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYc-gN_bhnc

The 2019 article “Future bioweapons could kill people with specific DNA” answers the question of why DNA samples of ethnic Russians were (supposedly) collected in a general sense:

While the above is not conclusive proof — evidence can also be faked and testimony can be false — it does make the Russian evidence-based and evidence-minding narrative more credible than the USA’s evidence-ignoring and -dismissing one. That also has to do with the general fact that minding the evidence is part of proper and truth-conducive methods whereas ignoring the evidence and adhering to narratives that run counter to the evidence is not.

It is furthermore interesting to note that Joe Biden’s son Hunter, who was already handed a lucrative board member seat at the Ukrainian gas firm Burisma in 2014 , is also tied into this:

https://twitter.com/jacksonhinklle/status/1508200736479358977

As reported by the New York Post on March 26, 2022:

Russia’s new claim that the first son’s investment fund was involved in raising money for biolab projects in Ukraine was accurate, according to e-mails involving Hunter Biden’s dealings in Ukraine, first obtained by The Post and initially reported on by The Daily Mail Friday.

Once again, it is also highly worthwhile to watch what independent journalist Glenn Greenwald has to say about all that in his own analysis where he talks about how the USA, including Anthony Fauci (watch journalist Saagar Enjeti explain it in this “Fauci, Gain-of-Function Research, and Wuhan Lab Funding” video), for instance also lied about funding “gain-of-function” research in Wuhan, the source of COVID-19:

https://twitter.com/ggreenwald/status/1502281578713604110; https://rumble.com/vx2iq7-the-white-houses-game-playing-denials-of-bio-labs-in-ukraine.html

Interestingly, Western propagandists are “telling the [propaganda] lie [about Ukrainian biolabs] both ways”: On the one hand, they say that there never was any bioweapon research happening. On the other hand, there is the propagandistic narrative that “Putin could unleash biological weapon from seized Ukraine lab, experts fear”:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5j1qQb-Ch0

As others have already pointed out, there are clear parallels to how the USA have lied about Iraq and Syria and their alleged chemical weapons or respective attacks in the past. As such, one should not put it past them to do the same thing with biological or chemical weapons use, whether real or invented, in Ukraine; the fundamentally same “playbook” or “script” for the Western propaganda narrative is simply being used over and over:

https://twitter.com/MarkSleboda1/status/1502904714236735489; https://twitter.com/SamRamani2/status/1502878798458593280

Information provided by a Chinese government official complements the picture even further:

https://twitter.com/zlj517/status/1503383168841576450; https://twitter.com/zlj517/status/1503383171928592386

Three months later, the US Department of Defense/Offensive issued the following statement which I do not find credible since 1) the DoD is generally involved in the opposite of “peaceful” activities and since 2) it amounts to the equivalent of a habitual criminal saying “I didn’t do it, I’m totally innocent”:

https://twitter.com/RnaudBertrand/status/1535196977767469056; https://www.defense.gov/News/Releases/Release/Article/3057517/fact-sheet-on-wmd-threat-reduction-efforts-with-ukraine-russia-and-other-former/

4. “Fuck the EU”: The 2014 US-Backed Coup in Ukraine

In case you are wondering why Ukraine may very well have cooperated with the USA in bioweapon labs and research that may very well target “ethnic Russians” or something in their DNA: That has to do with the fact that there was a violent US-backed coup in Ukraine in 2014 against the Viktor Yanukovych post-Orange Revolution government (president from 2010 to 2014). Here you have Sentator John McCain, who has been very active in Ukraine, announcing the intention to coup in coded terms in December 2013:

https://twitter.com/ricwe123/status/1665614106634645504

John McCain: “Hopefully, what we are trying to do is bring about a peaceful transition here” (0:15–0:20)

“this is a grassroots[!], ah, ah, revolution here” (0:33–0:38)

“these people love the United States of America, they love ‘freedom,’ ah, and I don’t think you could, ah, view this as anything but ‘our traditional support,’ ah, for a people who all want a ‘free and democratic’ society.” We are not talking about military action, we are not talking about blockades — we are talking about the possibility of sanctions if they continue to brutally repress their people. That, that would require some action on our part, just because that is what the United States of America is all about.” (1:35–2:08)

Western mainstream media, whose primary purpose is to manufacture consent, somehow ‘forgot’ to tell you about that US backed coup though—a coup that mainly happened since Yanukovych, who was not a useful idiot for Western power elites who wanted to exert their influence in Ukraine, “rejected a pending EU association agreement, choosing instead to pursue a Russian loan bailout and closer ties with Russia” (quote from his Wiki bio).

https://twitter.com/anyaparampil/status/1496707383556513792; https://twitter.com/anyaparampil/status/1496709405097840644
https://twitter.com/jacksonhinklle/status/1496295326663471104

And no, you are not supposed to simply believe the above power- and dependency-relation between the USA and Ukraine, just as you are not supposed to immediately dismiss it as Russian propaganda and in accordance with how your Western or US propaganda makes you ‘think’ or act. You are instead supposed to take in the available evidence which was reported on and analysed outside of mis- and disinforming mainstream media.

There is for instance the January 28, 2022, FAIR article “What You Should Really Know About Ukraine” which highlights the clear parallels between the 2014 Maidan Coup and the 2004 Orange Revolution such as the involvement of the US and CIA-affiliated regime change agency NED:

As political turmoil engulfed the country in the leadup to 2014, the US was fueling anti-government sentiment through mechanisms like USAID and National Endowment for Democracy (NED), just as they had done in 2004. In December 2013, Nuland, assistant secretary of state for European affairs and a long-time regime change advocate, said that the US government had spent $5 billion promoting “democracy” in Ukraine since 1991. The money went toward supporting “senior officials in the Ukraine government…[members of] the business community as well as opposition civil society” who agree with US goals.

The NED is a key organization in the network of American soft power that pours $170 million a year into organizations dedicated to defending or installing US-friendly regimes. The Washington Post‘s David Ignatius (9/22/91) once wrote that the organization functions by “doing in public what the CIA used to do in private.” The NED targets governments who oppose US military or economic policy, stirring up anti-government opposition.

The NED board of directors includes Elliott Abrams, whose sordid record runs from the Iran/Contra affair in the ’80s to the Trump administration’s effort to overthrow the Venezuelan government. In 2013, NED president Carl Gershman wrote a piece in the Washington Post (9/26/13) that described Ukraine as the “biggest prize” in the East/West rivalry. After the Obama administration, Nuland joined the NED board of directors before returning to the State Department in the Biden administration as undersecretary of state for political affairs.

The following Kevin Zeese analysis from 2019 or the following Branko Marcetic article from 2022 are also helpful for understanding how and why a US-backed coup happened in 2014 in Ukraine:

https://twitter.com/GFlock_GCSN/status/1496083645009965058; https://twitter.com/GFlock_GCSN/status/1496085767894011908

There is also the recently censored Oliver Stone documentary from 2016:

https://twitter.com/ggreenwald/status/1501917789187158022; https://rumble.com/vwxxi8-ukraine-on-fire.html

In case you should think these sources are too left-wing biased, you can also take it from George Friedman, the head of the private intelligence firm Stratfor, who called the 2014 Ukraine coup “the most blatant coup in history.”

Additionally, one could also take or infer that US-Ukrainian power and dependency relation from the ‘Democratic’ US House of Representatives member and Chair of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) Adam Schiff when he stated in 2020 and in a rarer moment of truth that “The United States ‘aides’ Ukraine and other people, so that we can fight Russia over there and so that we don’t have to fight Russia over here” — something that amounts to a clear admission of the USA (ab)using Ukraine to fight a proxy war against Russia:

https://twitter.com/aaronjmate/status/1497593878295236609; https://twitter.com/aaronjmate/status/1497594012554960909

In May 2022, the ‘Democratic’ member of the House of Representatives Seth Moulten openly confirmed that the USA is waging a proxy war against Russia via Ukraine:

https://twitter.com/ryangrim/status/1523047697451786240

Republican Senator Mitch McConnell later joined that club by admitting that “the most basic reasons for continuing to help Ukraine degrade and defeat the Russian invaders are cold, hard, practical American interests.”

https://rumble.com/v24r4y8-prince-harry-saga-the-truth-about-the-deep-state-055-stay-free-with-russell.html, 21:16–21:27

In a genuine spirit of bipartisanship, earlier statements of a similar nature were made by the warmongering Republican Senators Lindsey Graham and John McCain:

https://twitter.com/morphonios/status/1500122530627137536

Graham: “Your fight is our fight. 2017 will be the year of offense. All of us will go back to Washington and we will push the case against Russia. It is time for them to pay a heavier price.”

McCain: “I believe you will win, I am convinced you will win and we will do everything we can to provide you with what you need to win.”

Note that John McCain is also infamous for meeting and cooperating with ISIS leaders in Syria in or around 2013:

https://twitter.com/Rasputinish/status/1188463587842498563
https://i1.wp.com/theduran.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/McCain-and-ISIS-team.jpg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziNlUuc167E

As far as thinking about it yourself is concerned and to establish a foundation and historical constant, one could begin by acknowledging the many attempted and oftentimes successful US-backed coups or ‘regime changes’ — see especially William Blum’s respective classic Killing Hope: U.S. Military and CIA Interventions Since World War II. The long list is roughly as follows:

https://twitter.com/NelsonNayenga/status/1498234671582306305

One could then probabilistically infer from that general premise that it would be very much in line with general US foreign policy if they had also implemented a coup against Viktor Yanukovych (president from 2010–2014) in Ukraine and, as so often (see e.g. Latin America), with the aid of local violent rightwing extremists as their useful idiots.

And there are two intercepted and leaked 2014 telephone calls — evidence which Western mainstream media tend remain silent about since that evidence strongly suggests precisely such a US-backed coup in Ukraine (note that Youtube/Google has blocked access to both of these videos by now, but there are fortunately many copies around):

https://twitter.com/GFlock_GCSN/status/1496086133142429701; https://twitter.com/GFlock_GCSN/status/1496086936871706637

The first phonecall which was leaked on February 4, 2014, is between the aforementioned CIA/NED-affiliated high US State Department official Victoria Nuland (also the wife of the neocon US Iraq war architect Robert Kagan) and the then US ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt. They discuss why and how they want to install Arseniy “Yats” Yatsenyuk. From that phonecall for which the BBC provided the transcript:

Nuland: “What do you think?”

Pyatt: “I think we’re in play. The Klitschko piece is obviously the complicated electron here. Especially the announcement of him as Deputy Prime Minister. Especially the announcement of him as deputy prime minister and you’ve seen some of my notes on the troubles in the marriage right now so we’re trying to get a read really fast on where he is on this stuff. But I think your argument to him, which you’ll need to make, I think that’s the next phone call you want to set up, is exactly the one you made to Yats [Arseniy Yatseniuk, another opposition leader]. And I’m glad you sort of put him on the spot on where he fits in this scenario. And I’m very glad that he said what he said in response.”

Nuland: Good. I don’t think Klitsch should go into the government. I don’t think it’s necessary, I don’t think it’s a good idea.

Pyatt: Yeah. I guess… in terms of him not going into the government, just let him stay out and do his political homework and stuff. […]

Nuland: I think Yats is the guy who’s got the economic experience, the governing experience. He’s the… what he needs is Klitsch and Tyahnybok on the outside.

[…]

Nuland: OK. He’s now gotten both Serry and [UN Secretary General] Ban Ki-moon to agree that Serry could come in Monday or Tuesday. So that would be great, I think, to help glue this thing and to have the UN help glue it and, you know, Fuck the EU.

Do the emboldened passages not sound as if the USA determined in the background what needs to happen in Ukraine? And did things not happen precisely that way? The far right antisemite and neonazi Oleh Tjahnybok did not even make it into parliament (which was of course also and mainly due to his extremist views being rejected by many Ukrainians). The popular former heavyweight boxing champion Vitali Klitschko only became mayor of Kyev which he still is. Instead and as discussed between Nuland and Pyatt, it was “Yats” who became Ukraine’s prime minister on February 27, 2014 — and what the EU thinks about all of that, no one really cares.

The second intercepted and leaked phonecall occured between the British baroness and then EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton (2009–2014) und the former Estonian foreign minister Urmas Paet. In the call, Paet gives strong evidence for rightwing extremist opposition forces using violence and that the snipers from the Maidan square massacre on February 20, 2014, were from that opposition. This contradicts Western propaganda according to which the evil evil Viktor Yanukovych had his security forces shoot down peaceful protesters and who thereby supposedly delegitimized his rule. Hence “Maidan Coup.”

A transcript from this still working video of the Ashton-Paet call with gory fotographs from the Maidan Square in which the Estonian foreign minister Paet arrives at a similar conclusion:

Paet (3:44–4:10): “There is enormous pressure against the members of Parliament. There are un… *laughs nervously* uninvited visitors during the night […] to party members. Some journalists who were with me, they saw, during the day, that one member of Parliament was just beat in front of the Parliament by these guys with the guns on the streets.”

Paet (8:23–9:09): “What was quite disturbing, the same Olga told that, well, what the evidence shows, that people were killed by snipers from both sides, among policemen and people from the streets, that they were the same snipers — killing people from both sides. […] And she also showed me some fotos, she said that has medical doctor, she can, you know, say that it is the same handwriting, the same type of bullets. And it’s really disturbing that now the new coalition, that they don’t want to investigate… what exactly happened. SO THAT THERE IS NOW A STRONGER AND STRONGER UNDERSTANDING THAT, BEHIND THE SNIPERS, IT WAS NOT YANUKOVYCH, BUT IT WAS SOMEBODY FROM THE NEW COALITION.”

On the trustworthyness of this and similar incepted, hacked or leaked material:

https://twitter.com/caitoz/status/1534682301304479744

If you are interested in an overview of the existing evidence that contradicts the Western propaganda narrative and instead suggests that the Maidan Square murder on February 20, 2014, were a largely successful false flag attack by the USA and its useful idiots in Ukraine and elsewhere:

Such evidence includes videos, testimonies by more than 100 wounded protesters and several hundred other witnesses, including several dozen prosecution and defense witnesses at the Maidan massacre trial and investigation, and forensic ballistic and medical examinations by government experts.

Synchronized videos show that specific times and directions of shooting of the absolute majority of the protesters did not coincide with the specific times and the approximate directions of live ammunition fire by the special Berkut police unit. Three protesters were killed and ten wounded even before this unit appeared in the Maidan. Synchronized video footage also show that the killings of the protesters practically stopped after the government sniper units were deployed to the regime-controlled areas near the epicentre of the protest. The videos alone prove beyond any doubt that Berkut and government snipers did not massacre the Maidan protesters.

Dozens of members and commanders of government sniper units testified as prosecution witnesses at the Maidan massacre trial that they were ordered to locate and neutralize snipers who killed and wounded the Berkut policemen. They also testified that they came under fire by snipers from Maidan-controlled buildings and areas. Even the official investigation determined that Yanukovych government snipers did not massacre the Maidan protesters

Also ask yourself why the opposition and new coalition government did not want investigations into the sniper killings. The most likely answer: Because they once again did not want people to look at the evidence which contradicts Western and their own propaganda.

Furthermore, consider the dichotomy and vast gulf between what the hypocritical USA says and what it actually does in terms of foreign policy and how this just as well applies to Ukraine:

https://twitter.com/ggreenwald/status/1498668745631354887; https://twitter.com/inspiteoffires/status/1498662657099849730

So much for some evidence and facts that confirm the hypothesis of a US-backed coup in Ukraine in 2014 as well as Ukraine’s current status as a yet another vassall state of the USA which is (ab)used as a pawn in order to advance the USA’s geopolitical agenda, with the EU, Russia and certainly Ukraine all suffering as a consequence.

Conclusion

Contrary to the US or Western propaganda narratives which consist of dismissing any such claims even before the evidence is in or analysed — a methodologically deeply flawed and highly suspicious approach — , there actually is evidence which suggests that the US were not only funding biolab research but possibly even biological weapons research in Ukraine that targets ethnic Russians.

And what can be said with far greater certainty is that there was a US-backed coup against Yanukovych in Ukraine in 2014 that was implemented with the aid of violent Ukrainian far right extremists and in which the US neocon and deep state figure of Victoria Nuland was once again involved.
